When You Tell Me That You

LYRICS

DIANA ROSS

"When You Tell Me That
You Love Me"

I wanna call the stars
Down from the sky
I wanna live a day
That never dies
I wanna change the world
Only for you
All the impossible
I wanna do
I wanna hold you close
Under the rain
I wanna kiss your smile
And feel the pain
I know what's beautiful
Looking at you
In a world of lies
You are the truth
And baby
Everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe
No matter where you are
And bring you
Everything you ask for
Nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
When you tell me that you love me
I wanna make you see
Just what I was
Show you the loneliness
And what it does
You walked into my life
To stop my tears
Everything's easy now
I have you here
And baby
Everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe
No matter where you are
And bring you
Everything you ask for
Nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
When you tell me that you love me
In a world without you
I would always hunger
All I need is your love to make me stronger
And baby
Everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe
No matter where you are
And bring you
Everything you ask for
Nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
When you tell me that you love me
You love me
When you tell me that you love me

LYRICS

DIANA ROSS

"I'm Still Waiting"

I remember when
I was five and you were ten, boy
You knew that I was shy
So you teased and made me cry
But I loved you
Then one day you came
You told me you were leaving
You gave your folks the blame
And made me cry again
When you said
Little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday will surely come
Ooh, little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday will surely come
And I'm still waiting
I'm waiting
Ooh, still waiting
I'm just a fool
Ooh, I'm a fool
To keep waiting
Then someone finally came
He told me that he loved me
I put him off with lies
He could see I had no eyes
So he left me once again alone
Like a child without her playmate
I had to face the truth
I was still in love with you
But you said:
Little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday will surely come
Ooh, little girl
Please don't wait for me
Wait patiently for love
Someday will surely come
And I'm still waiting
Love has never shown his face
Since the day you walked out that door
You filled my life with empty space
Come back
Can't you see it's you I'm waiting for
Don't you know I'm waiting
I'm waiting for love
For you, I miss you
I'm waiting
Come on back, boy
I need you
I want you
That's what my friends says

LYRICS

DIANA ROSS

"Endless Love"

(feat. Lionel Richie)
My love
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's right
My first love
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make
And I
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do
And your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Oh, yes you will always be
My endless love
Two hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives had just begun
Forever
I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
And love
I'll be a fool for you
I'm sure
You know I don't mind
Whoooooa, you know I don't mind
'Cos you
You mean the world to me
Oh, I know
I know I found in you
My endless love

[Instrumental Interlude]

Oooooooh
And love
I'll be that fool for you
I'm sure
You know I don't mind
Whooooa, you know I don't mind
And yes
You'll be the only one
'Cos no one can't deny
This love I have inside
And I'll give it all to you
My love
My endless love

DIANA ROSS BIOGRAPHY

  • Born: 26-03-1944 .

  • Birth Place: Detroit, Michigan

With a career spanning 40 years, Ross is one of the best female singers of all time.

Diana Ernestine Earle Ross was born on 26 March 1944 to schoolteacher Ernestine and former US Army soldier Fred Ross SR in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up she wanted to become a fashion designer and studied design, millinery, pattern-making and seamstress skills at Cass Technical High School.

In her teens, she worked at the Hudson Department Store and graduated from school in January 1962. By this point in time, Ross was working in the band 'The Supremes'. In 1959, the manager of doo-wop band 'The Primes' Milton Jenkins was convinced to enlist Ross in the sister group 'The Primettes'.

In 1960, the group were signed to Lu Pine Records and released the Ross-led 'Tears of Sorrow' before winning a singing contest in Winnipeg, where they caught the attention of Motown Records CEO Berry Gordy. During the first years of the band, Ross earned money working as Gordy's secretary.

'The Supremes' were born in 1961 after group member Florence Ballard agreed to the new moniker when they signed to Motown records. Barbara Martin left in 1962 making the band a trio and in 1963 Ross was made the lead singer.

'When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes' was the band's first Billboard Top 40 single, which was followed by the number one single 'Where Did Our Love Go'. Between 1964 and 1967 'The Supremes' enjoyed ten number one hit singles.

In July 1967, original member Ballard was replaced by Cindy Birdsong and the group became known as 'Diana Ross & The Supremes' preparing her for a solo career. Television specials, including 'G.I.T On Broadway' (1969) spotlighted Ross as a solo star.

In November 1969, it was confirmed that Ross had left the girl band, with the Supremes 12th and final number one being 'Someday We'll be Together' in 1969. Ross made her final appearance with them on 14 January 1970.

Ross now became a star in her own right with the release of her debut solo album 'Diana Ross' in May 1970, which spawned the singles 'Reach Out and Touch Somebody' and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', which was her first solo number one and for which she won the Best Pop Vocal Performance Grammy.

'Everything is Everything' was released in 1971 and this saw single 'I'm Still Waiting' reach number one. In January 1971, Ross married music business manager Robert Ellis Silberstein. She also gave birth to her first child Rhonda on 14 August 1971, whose biological father is Berry Gordy.

Ross had two daughters with Silberstein, Tracee Joy (1972) and Chudney Lane (1975), before the couple divorced in 1977.

During this time, Ross released third album 'Touch Me in the Morning' in 1973, with a duet album alongside Marvin Gaye entitled 'Diana & Marvin' released later that year.

In 1974, 'Last Time I Saw Him' wasn't as successful as her previous records but Ross returned to form with 'Love Hangover' in 1976, 'Baby It's Me' in 1977 and 'Ross' in 1979. In 1981, she left Motown Records and signed one of the most lucrative music contracts ever with RCA.

When her duet with Lionel Richie 'Endless Love' reached number one, Ross became the first woman in music history to chart six number ones. Combining those with the hits she enjoyed with The Supremes, she has achieved 18 number ones throughout her career, the most for any female in recording history.

Ross's career spiked again in 1984 with the release of 'Swept Away' which included a tribute to Marvin Gaye entitled 'Missing You'. Her 1986 album 'Eaten Alive' enjoyed success with the single 'Chain Reaction' but 'The Force Behind the Power' (1991), 'Take Me Higher' (1995) and 'Every Day is a New Day' were not as successful.

In January 1986, Ross had married billionaire Norwegian shipping magnate Arne Naess and they had sons Ross in 1987 and Evan in 1988. They divorced in 2000.

Ross continues to tour the world following the release of her last album 'I Love You' in 2007. From the summer of 2010, Ross has been on the road with her 'More Today Than Yesterday: The Greatest Hits Tour'.

LYRICS

DIANA ROSS

Do You Know Where You're
 Going To

Do you know where you're going to
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to
Do you know
Do you get
What you're hoping for
When you look behind you
There's no open doors
What are you hoping for
Do you know
Once we were standing still in time
Chasing the fantasies
That filled our minds
You knew how I loved you
But my spirit was free
Laughin' at the questions
That you once asked of me
Do you know where you're going to
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to
Do you know
Now looking back at all we've planned
We let so many dreams
Just slip through our hands
Why must we wait so long
Before we'll see
How sad the answers
To those questions can be
Do you know where you're going to
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to
Do you know
Do you get
What you're hoping for
When you look behind you
There's no open doors
What are you hoping for
Do you know

LYRICS

DIANA ROSS

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

If you need me, call me
No matter where you are
No matter how far
Just call my name
I'll be there in a hurry
On that you can depend and never worry
No wind, (no wind)
No rain, (no rain)
Nor winter's cold
Can stop me, babe
(Oh, babe) baby (baby)
If you're my goal
No wind, (no wind)
No rain, (no rain)
Can stop me, babe
If you wanna go
I know, I know you must follow the sun
Wherever it leads
But remember
If you should fall short of your desires
Remember life holds for you one guarantee
You'll always have me
And if you should miss my lovin
One of these old days
If you should ever miss the arms
That used to hold you so close, or the lips
That used to touch you so tenderly
Just remember what I told you
The day I set you free
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
(Say it again)
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me
Keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
(Say it again)
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me
To keep me from you
